Thinking of becoming a nurse practitioner? NPs are earning more than ever and their salaries compare favorably with other professionals who have earned their master’s degrees.
A full-time salary nurse practitioner can make upwards of $76,000a year, but NPs with independent practices can make in excess of $90,000 a year. Those that specialize in a certain realm can make much more than the average NP, including those in the emergency department, surgery, or neonatal unit. Also high on the salary spectrum are nurses in gerontology and adult care.
NPs also have flexibility in choosing the type of work they want to do and when they can do it. The specialty areas abound and there’s everything from part-time to full time work.
